The Review By Raymond Tyler
First of all my father was the kind of guy that got joy from hiding behind the door as he heard your key turning. He would let you unzip your coat and then yell and scare the Bee-Jesus out of you.
So I am sure as my mother and he were Christmas shopping for me at Two Guys. I would bet it was his bright idea to put Mark Of The Manwolf book and record album in the with my other gifts (when I was 8 or 9.)
To be fair. Both my parents knew I loved Spider-man.
And I loved this gift.
I may have played the record and read along all day Christmas.
Going to sleep with all the lights out on December 26th after midnight? Was not as happy for me as it was earlier. I was now haunted by the pictures of the Manwolf leaping through the air and his fangs and claws. I saw nothing but these images of The Manwolf over and over in my pre-teen mind.
Mark Of The Manwolf hit every note of horror and heroics it was supposed to.
In the end does Spider-Man save the day? Watch and see.
On December 26th at 1pm I resolved I was too big to ask my dad to stay up with me....but I was glad he was in the room across the hall.
The next day...I went back and played the record again and read along.
When I watch Mark Of The Manwolf today...it still takes me to exciting, scary places in my imagination.
Where I love being scared and all the great emotions that come with the ride.
I dedicate this review to the memory of my father who gave me this Christmas present when I was young enough to enjoy it and fear it the most.
Happy Halloween.
